ENGLISH

Fisnik was born in Kosovo, ex-Yugoslavia in 1992.

Exiled in Switzerland, he lived with refugee status for over ten years. He holds a Bachelor in International Relations from the University of Geneva, a Master in Geopolitics from King’s College London, and a Master in Film Directing at ECAL/HEAD (Lausanne-Geneva/Switzerland). Before pursuing his passion and calling in film, he had a brief career in diplomacy, working for the Swiss Department of Foreign Affairs in Japan.

Since 2016, he has written and directed four short films, three feature documentaries and a feature fiction film, as well as worked on a Swiss-French-Belgian TV show. His work has been presented (among others) at Locarno, Tallinn, Clermont-Ferrand, Visions du Réel, São Paolo, Los Angeles, Montréal, Guanajuato, gathering him dozens of top awards.

He is an alumni of Berlinale Talents, Atelier Grand Nord and Ateliers d’Angers.

His first feature fiction, THE LAND WITHIN, was awarded best film at the Tallinn Black Nights 2022, an A-list festival. This launched the film’s candidacy for both the European Film Awards (Best European Film) and for the Oscars© 2024 (Best International Picture).

He is working on two feature films ; COTTON HANDS (in Switzerland/France) and WASTELAND (North/Latin America). He is also developing THE LIZARD SKIN, a TV series in Europe/North America.

At the moment, he lives in Vevey (Switzerland), only feet away from Charlie Chaplin’s grave.

Fisnik is fluent in English, French, Albanian and Spanish.

Fisnik est né au Kosovo, en ex-Yougoslavie, en 1992.

Exilé en Suisse, il a vécu avec le statut de réfugié pendant plus de dix ans. Il est titulaire d'un Bachelor en relations internationales de l'Université de Genève, d'un Master en géopolitique du King's College de Londres et d'un master en réalisation cinématographique de l'ECAL/HEAD (Lausanne-Genève/Suisse). Avant de poursuivre sa passion et sa vocation dans le cinéma, il a eu une brève carrière dans la diplomatie, travaillant pour le Département suisse des affaires étrangères au Japon.

Depuis 2016, il a écrit et réalisé quatre courts métrages, trois longs métrages documentaires et un long métrage de fiction, et a travaillé sur une émission de télévision suisse-française-belge. Son travail a été présenté (entre autres) à Locarno, Tallinn, Clermont-Ferrand, Visions du Réel, São Paolo, Los Angeles, Guanajuato, Montréal, lui valant des dizaines de récompenses.

Il est un alumni de Berlinale Talents, de l'Atelier Grand Nord et des Ateliers d'Angers.

Son premier long métrage de fiction, THE LAND WITHIN, a reçu le prix du meilleur film au festival Black Nights 2022 de Tallinn, un festival de premier plan. Cela a lancé la candidature du film aux European Film Awards (Meilleur film européen) et aux Oscars© 2024 (Meilleur film international).

Il travaille actuellement sur deux longs métrages : COTTON HANDS (en Suisse/France) et WASTELAND (Amérique du Nord/Latine). Il développe également THE LIZARD SKIN, une série télévisée pour l'Europe et l'Amérique du Nord.

Il vit actuellement à Vevey (Suisse), à quelques pas de la tombe de Charlie Chaplin.

Fisnik parle couramment l'anglais, le français, l'albanais et l'espagnol.
